Chapter Programming Highlights
Delta Zeta Omega focuses on finding innovative and collaborative ways to act on our international program initiatives while serving the communities we live and work in. We build lasting community partnerships that result in sustainable change for good.
“By culture and by merit.”
Our annual Holiday Toy Drive, done in partnership with Black and woman-owned natural hair care salon NAZA Beauty, benefits the San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program. We’ve collected over 200 toys for children since its inception during the pandemic in 2021.
Mary E. Carter Clay Scholarship
Since 1946, Delta Zeta Omega chapter has served the San Francisco Bay Area through numerous community service, educational, and scholarship-based initiatives.
Mary E. Carter Clay was a former charter member, chapter president, and an important part of Delta Zeta Omega’s history and legacy in the San Francisco Bay Area. This scholarship is designed to commemorate her impact and celebrate young people of the African Diaspora whose commitment to their community and academic achievement exemplifies her legacy. The Mary E. Carter Clay scholarship is awarded annually.
San Francisco Princess Project
Led by one of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s core tenets of “helping to alleviate problems concerning girls and women,” DZO supports the San Francisco Princess Project. The Princess Project promotes self-confidence and individual beauty by providing free prom dresses and accessories to high school teens who cannot otherwise afford them.
Through our donation and volunteer commitment, we impact over 100 girls annually, helping them during on-site shopping days to save an average of $300 and build confidence while finding the perfect ensemble and accessories for prom.
Chapter Retreat
We know that service to others starts with self-care for ourselves. Each year the chapter comes together to prioritize personal growth & development, strategic planning, and strengthening our sisterly bonds through immersive event themes, interactive workshops, and intentional moments of connection.
